RASSM (Transnistria) - Back in the USSR

Explore Transnistria and journey back to the Soviet Union

Embark on a unique tour to explore a region that exists in a geopolitical gray area. Transnistria, although not officially recognized as a country, offers a fascinating glimpse into the bygone era of the Soviet Union. Originally part of Moldova, Transnistria resisted declaring independence from Russia following the collapse of the Soviet Union. After a 4-month civil war in 1992, a cease fire was negotiated. While the situation remains unresolved, the region has enjoyed peace for several decades, providing an intriguing opportunity to witness a living piece of history.

ITINERARY:

The driver and the tour guide will meet at a designated place to pick up everyone that is going on the tour.

1. A tour of monuments in Tiraspol, including statues of Lenin and other Soviet heroes.

2. A visit to the Museum of Transnistria, including information regarding how Transnistria came to be. Gain insights into the tumultuous history of the civil war, learn about its distinctive currency, and explore the workings of its government.

3. Tour of the Noul-Neamt Monastery (former Pioneer Camp in USSR).

4. Tour of Bender city and the Bender Fortress, built during the Turkish Empire.

Note: Tourists must make sure their passports are in order. They will be scrutinized by the border patrol guards. Tourists are responsible to bring any medications they may need and to inform the guide of any medical or dietary issues they have. The length of the tour may vary depending on several factors - weather, tourist interest, and more. However, the maximum duration will be 8 hours.

TOUR DURATION - 8 hours

ESTIMATED LOCAL CASH NEEDED: 350 MDL per person - The minimum for dinner and drinks. Adjust this amount if you would like to buy gifts or any other products. USD, Euros, or MDL can be exchanged for local currency.

TRANSPORTATION - The vehicle provided by our guiding service will be a Opel Vivaro or a Renault Megane. It will have A/C and be in good running condition.
